Basic Biology of Aging at the University of Washington

University of Washington Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging

The University of Washington houses one of five NIA funded Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging across the U.S.

The Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in Basic Biology of Aging at the University of Washington provides leadership in the pursuit of basic research into the biology of aging and resources to support the large community of University of Washington investigators studying aspects of the basic biology of aging.

We do so through Resource Cores that provide services to Shock Center members; a Research Development Core which administers small start-up funds locally, and organizes national annual meetings to highlight specific areas of research; and a Program Enrichment Core that supports administrative management, our annual seminar and the Basic Biology of Aging seminar series, and speakers for other symposia and seminars.
