Basic Biology of Aging at the University of Washington

University of Washington Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging

The Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in Basic Biology of Aging at the University of Washington provides resources to support the large community of University of Washington investigators studying aspects of the basic biology of aging. Components of the center include:

Resources Cores

The Nathan Shock Center supports three resources cores that provide services to the gerontology community for the development of transgenic animal models, the applications of cytometry and cell sorting, and the study of alterations in gene expression and proteomics.

Research Development Core

This core supports pilot study projects in the basic biology of aging. The funding for pilot projects allows faculty investigators to rapid pursue new and exciting findings in the study of aging.

Program Enrichment Core

This core supports administrative management, our annual seminar and the Basic Biology of Aging seminar series, and speakers for other symposia and seminars.
