DescriptionLoss of function extends life span 20-30%. Life span extension is proposed to be similar to caloric restriction (Lakowski and Hekimi, 1998). eat-2 mutants can synergize with daf-2 mutants, but not clk-1 mutants, for life span. Life span extension by eat-2 is not suppressed by a daf-16 mutation (Lakowski and Hekimi 1999)
