DescriptionFlies fed yeast defective in coenzyme Q production (coq3 delta) or yeast defective for respiratory function but CoQ replete had a shorter life-span than flies fed wild type yeast (Palmer and Sackton, 2003).
These results are interpreted to suggest that dietary restriction of CoQ does not extend life-span in flies. Dietary restriction of CoQ has been found to extend life-span in worms (Larsen and Clarke, 2002).
