DescriptionFlies heterozygous for either of two loss of function alleles of puc (pucA251.1 or pucE69) show significant extensions of both median and maximum life-span (Wang et al., 2003).
Heterozygosity for puc only modestly extends life-span in flies carrying a hypomorphic allele of the JNK kinase hep (Wang et al., 2003).

Other PhenotypesPuc heterozygotes do not differ siginificantly from wild type controls for body size, reproductive activity or developmental timing, but do show increased resistance to oxidative stress and starvation (Wang et al., 2003).
