|Description||Zaprionus paravittiger fed with vitamin E supplemented diet (1, 5 and 10 micrograms/ml) showed an increase in median and maximum life-spans. Vitamin E supplemented at higher concentrations increased mortality rate and shortened life-span (Kakkar et al., 1996).|
|Other Phenotypes||Females exhibited longer life-span as compared to males.|
Vitamin E feeding caused a significant decrease in malondialdehyde and increase in catalase and peroxidase activities (Kakkar et al., 1996).
Addition of Vitamin E to the diet has also been shown to extend life-span in the rotifers Asplanchna brightwelli (Sawada and Enesco, 1984) and Philodina (Enesco and Verdone-Smith, 1980).
Dietary supplementation with vitamin E had no effect on life-span in mice (Morley and Trainor, 2001) or C. elegans (Adachi and Ishii, 2000)..
