DescriptionRNAi of scl-1 results in a slight but reproducible decrease in life-span, similar to the effect of mutation in daf-16 (Ookuma et al., 2003). RNAi of scl-1 prevents the life-span extension associated with mutation of daf-2 or age-1.

Other PhenotypesScl-1 has a Daf-16 binding element in its promoter and it suggested to be a direct target for transcriptional activation by Daf-16 (Ookuma et al., 2003).
Scl-1 mRNA is highly expressed in daf-2 or age-1 mutants, lowly expressed in wild-type N2 and not detectable in daf-16 mutants (Ookuma et al., 2003).
RNAi of scl-1 causes heat shock and UV sensitivity (Ookuma et al., 2003).
