DescriptionRespiratory deficient petite cells in strain YPK9 have a life span that is extended by ~35%. The relevance of this result is unclear, as the life span extension is strain specific. Petite cells in W303 have a life span identical to grande cells and petite cells in strains SP1-1 and A364A have a shorter life span than grande cells (Kirchman et al., 1999).
